These are some of the staple DIY’s in our home.  Please note that all quantities are for Young Living Essential Oils. Due to the strength of these oils, quantities may differ should you use other brands.

DIY Recipes

Coffee Body Scrub


1 cup ground coffee beans

½ cup Epsom Salts

(magnesium sulphate)

½ cup sugar

¼ cup coconut oil

5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (or oil of your choice)



Combine and store in a glass jar!

Dry Shampoo


¼ cup of cornstarch

1 tbsp baking powder

2 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

2 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

1 drop Tea Tree Essential Oil

2 tablespoons of unsweetened cacao powder, for dark hair only

Makeup remover Wipes


2 tsp fractionated coconut oil

1 tbsp Witch Hazel

2 tbsp distilled water

4 drops Lavender oil

Combine in a small jar and shake well. Fill with cotton pads.  The cotton pads will be ready to use once they have absorbed the liquid

Honey & Lavender Lip Balm


2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tbsp beeswax pellets

5 drops Lavender

1 tsp honey

Melt oils and beeswax in a double saucepan. Allow to cool to around body temperature before adding essential oils and honey.  Combine and pour into little pots

Insect Repellent

20ml Witch Hazel

13 drops Citronella essential oil

3 drops Lavender essential oil

3 drops Lemongrass essential oil

3 drops Cedarwood essential oil

Distilled water

Add witch hazel to a 200ml spray bottle followed by essential oils.  Top up with distilled water



 3 deodorant tubes (15 ml size)

1tbsp coconut oil (solid)

1tbsp shea butter

1tbsp beeswax

1tbsp arrowroot powder

2tbsp diatomaceous earth

1tsp vitamin E oil

4 drops Lavender essential oil

4 drops Tea Tree essential oil

2 drops Lemongrass essential oil

In a double boiler, combine the coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax.  Stir until completely melted.

Remove from heat and allow to cool until it reaches body temperature

Stir in all remaining ingredients until no lumps remain

Carefully pour into wind-up tubes


Pain Balm

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/2 tsp beeswax

5 drops Frankincense essential oil

5 drops Copiaba essential oil

5 drops Balsam Fir essential oil

Gently melt the coconut oil and beeswax in a double saucepan and allow to cool to body temperature.  Add the essential oils and stir gently.  Pour into a small jar.  Great for arthritis and muscle aches.

Beauty Serum

30ml organic rosehip oil 

30ml organic jojoba oil

10 drops Frankincense essential oil

10 drops Myrhh essential oil

10 drops Palmarosa essential oil

10 drops Lavender essential oil

10 drops Cedarwood essential oil

Combine essential oils in a small dropper bottle and leave to "synergise" for 48 hours Add the rosehip and the jojoba and shake gently to combine.

Apply before bed under moisturising cream.

Thieves Soft Scrub

½ cup Bicarbonate of Soda

30ml Thieves Household Cleaner

5 drops lemon essential oil

1 tbsp white vinegar


In a bowl stir wet ingredients together.  Slowly add bicarb and mix to a thick paste.  Great for grout, showers, ovens and sinks.

Rollerball Recipes


Into a 10ml roller ball bottle add

10 drops Valor Essential Oil

10 drops White Angelica Essential Oil

5 drops Transformation Essential Oil 

Fill almost to the top with a carrier oil

Apply as often as needed on inside of wrists, over your heart or behind your ears

Seasonal Sneezies

Into a 10ml roller ball bottle add

10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

10 drops Lemon Essential Oil

10 drops Lavender Essential Oil and for an extra boost

10 drops Copaiba Essential Oil

Fill almost to the top with a carrier oil

Apply to back of neck and inside of wrists as often as needed if you have the seasonal sneezies


Into a 10ml roller ball bottle add

10 drops Thieves Essential Oil

10 drops Lemon Essential Oil

5 drops Frankincense Essential Oil and for an extra boost

5 drops Oregano Essential Oil

Fill almost to the top with a carrier oil

Apply as often as needed to stay above the wellness line or to support your body should you start to feel ”icky”
